The tattoo aftercare process is an important step that everyone who has a tattoo should take into account. But don't be intimidated by the fact that it's so important. It is not very difficult to protect the tattoo.
No one would be willing to let your tattoo, which you have thought for months and finally decided, to face with a body infection. Personal care and protection are as important as quality tattoo materials and professional workmanship applied in hygienic conditions. It can always be a life saver to follow the usage and care instructions that must be followed.
It is very important for your tattoo and your health to strictly follow the advice and instructions your artist will give you during the recovery period in order for the paint to take a healthy place in the body after the application. After the application in the tattoo studio, your tattooist will clean the tattooed area with antibacterial materials and wrap it in a bandage to prevent it from getting air. And you will definitely come out of the tattoo studio wrapped in cling film like a slice of food put in the fridge.
Your tattoo area, which turns into a sterilized and bacteria-free environment, turns into an atmosphere where bacteria can multiply as soon as you open your bandage and come into contact with air. This is already part of the life cycle. It is our duty to clean the tattooed area as quickly as possible. This cleaning will not be a one-off. During the healing process, you need to clean your tattoo regularly.
When it's time for the first cleaning, you should definitely clean your hands from germs before you start cleaning the tattooed area. Clean adequately with antibacterial soap and water if possible. We had a pandemic and I think we learned to wash hands properly.
Gently remove the wrap/stretch film from the tattooed area after washing our hands. Then wash the area with warm, non-pressurized water. Remember, very cold water and extremely hot water will damage your skin at this stage. If you did not buy a special antibacterial cleanser afterward, rub it with antibacterial soap with your fingertips in circular motions without pressing too much. It is normal for the tattooed area to ache during this process and to hurt slightly when you rub it with water. Keep cleaning gently. Remember, this pain and suffering will disappear by the end of the first week. Then rinse with warm, non-pressurized water and dry with a paper towel without pressing. After this cleaning, apply your tattoo aftercare cream and try to keep it away from germs until the next cleaning session.
When you elaborate and write like this, it should not be thought of as a cleaning that takes hours. We are talking about a process that will not exceed 5 minutes in each session.
Especially when the dressing is opened and cleaned for the first time, blood, excess ink and cream residues will flow. If you see this, don't worry. During the healing process, the skin in the tattoo area will naturally crust to a certain extent and you will encounter similar discharges during this crusting process. For this reason, it is in your hands to keep the crusting at a certain level with regular cleaning so that it does not thicken. Again, while cleaning your tattoo in this process, do not try to clean all the blood, crust and discharge at once. We are not trying to bring stubborn dirt to its knees at this stage. Don't worry, they will soften and go away on their own in the second or third wash.
It is very important to repeat and maintain the daily cleaning and care cream application as it will be vulnerable to infection for 3-4 weeks.
Additional information: We recommend that you use products specially produced for tattoo cleaning and care during all these processes. This is not a commercial tactic and cannot provide medical hygiene in daily cleaners. At the same time, it is useful to stay away from abrasive cleaning agents, as we want not only medical hygiene, but also the protection of the colors of our tattoo. Tattoo aftercare creams will relieve itching while providing healing.
